A Passion Became A Business.
I have always been a lover of candles. I admire the warmth and comfort that can be produced by the single flame of a well crafted candle.
Six years ago I decided I would try my hand at making my very first candle. It wasn't long until candle making became an addicting hobby that quickly evolved into a serious passion. I began making candles every chance I had, always striving to improve on my previous effort. Candle making is truly a science and it requires a great deal of experimentation and practice to achieve good results. I spent months researching waxes, wicks, fragrance oils, colorants, and containers. I experimented with numerous products in my quest to develop my candle and ultimately, I decided that quality was the most important ingredient. I settled on an all natural, clean burning and eco friendly soy wax. I use premium, high quality fragrance oils specially formulated for use in soy candles. I chose to forego dye because I believe the color of natural soy is in itself beautiful. I chose a square mason jar as my candle vessel because of its comforting simplicity.
After years of making candles for myself, family and friends, I decided it was time to fulfill the dream that I held in my heart and establish my own company. In September 2015, I officially formed Greyden Candle Co, so named after my two sons, Greyson and Aden, and I have truly enjoyed crafting my candles and selling my products at markets, in retail locations and through my online store for the enjoyment of others.
I hand pour all of my candles in my kitchen in my home in Kyle, Texas. Each candle is crafted with American grown all natural soy, premium fragrance oil and features an all cotton wick. All of my candles are completely dye free which leaves them a soft, natural shade of ivory.
Why soy? Unlike oil based paraffin candles, soy candles are made from a product that is renewable, sustainable, Eco-friendly, carbon neutral and almost always American grown. In addition, soy candles burn cleaner and longer than candles typically made from other types of wax which means you get the most out of your candle.
Keep in mind that I do not use any additives to enhance the appearance of my candles, leaving them perfectly imperfect. Your candle may develop "frosting" or cool with a rough, uneven surface after burning. This occurrence is a normal characteristic of soy and in no way diminishes the quality of the candle.
